drops

Kindred Words

you cannot see them.

from where you are sitting -
 you cannot see them.

you cannot see as they well up

and

succumb to the gravity of emotions.

as they stream down my reality –

chasing sunlight

and

begging for release.

you cannot see the mess they have made

or

hear the sounds of their cries.

you cannot feel the burn

or

the sting

or

the dampness left behind.

nor,

can you know the shame.

you do not see the drops of tears

or

the tracks of blood

or

the scars…
…..etched into a breathing canvas.

you cannot see them.

what you do see are lines.

lines, spaces and words.

and
 that is all.
