I have many ‘sources’ of inspiration.  There are my children, including my ‘daughter’ (the hairy one), the many forest preserves around where I live, lakes and ponds and anything which may catch my eye.

There is, however, one source ~ one pond ~ in particular – a few steps from my townhouse…

Weekly Photo Challenge – Enveloped

J & Pee

Jordan loves his sister.

The above photo was taken in January before Jordan returned to school from winter break.  He misses her greatly and I wish – sometimes – I could ship her down state to the University. Picture a big crate with air holes and wrapped in caution tape – “Beware of Deadly Beast”.

Next week (in 7 days – yes, I am counting) he leaves for Los Angeles (in a car, with two other people – girls).  I have been trying to figure out how to squeeze her in a suitcase…

Sydnee Pee had her big Pee home over the weekend.  It was a momentous occasion for us all.  The biggest was Peyton getting his driver’s license and the second was the first day of hot weather – 70’s – in which we took Pee for a vroom vroom and a big walkie at the ‘big pond’ (aka as Lily Lake).  I believe she may have overdone it a bit, proof being – getting into the car took about 5 minutes plus mom lifting 55lbs. of dead dog weight.  She went through a whole cup of water at a fast food restaurant and at home, she stumbled up the first step, which meant I had to play caboose and support her from under the torso, while Peyton was the engine and sweet talked her up each step.  When she finally got to the top, she collapsed and stayed there for the next 5 hours – with an occasional flip from side to side.  Pee may have been pooped, but she was very happy happee!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Motion

the final leg of the last relay of the last year of middle school….

*

*

It was a typical COLD May morning in the NW ‘burbs of Chicago – complete with wind and rain.  As always, the 8th grade boys ran their relays last – and this was the sectional tournament, thus many schools, many teams and many hours spent in the rain, in the wind – in the friggin’ cold.  The young man above is my son and he was coming in hard… I was not certain if I could catch a photo of the wind but I did!!  I wish I had a different camera, other than my i-phone (this photo was shot in 2012), however, it doesn’t really matter.  Peyton loves this picture.  His words were:

“Wow! I am airborne!  Cool shot Mimz!”

🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge – Early Bird

IMG_9258

an Autumn morning –

*

*

As always, I take many photos of the pond beside my townhouse.  There is a reason for this – my daughter (the very hairy, three-legged one with big ears and a tail).  While she is doing her ‘thing’, I am typically staring over yonder and yonder is the pond!  The above photo was taken in the latter part of last fall.  The sun was rising behind me and the moon was setting in front of me.  This particular shot was taken around 6:10am.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Floating

~

Southern Illinois University – the lake on campus

I have lots of photographs which reveal moments of floating, whether it be literally or figuratively.  I have many photographs of clouds in the sky.  I am always taking them – wanting to capture the ‘never to be seen moment again’ moment.   The photo I chose for this week takes both the literal and figurative into account, as well as the absurd and sadness which has, unfortunately become a common site in today’s society and our bodies of water.

Jordan took this photo last year, as a result of a class assignment.  He snapped a few wide angled shots which revealed more of the area around the bottle and this one, which was used for a film.  Water was the assigned topic and I suppose, you can figure out the ‘angle’ in which the film explored this very wet topic. {By the way, the shadows under the water are little fish.}
