Frequently we hear the coyotes at night. It is the most haunting sound.

I can understand it sounding this way. I heard another one further away – it seemed like they were communicating. I have heard many an owl hoot but never a coyote howl.

Must be perspective, because when I hear the coyotes I say they are screaming. Of course that is usually when they are on the hunt or have killed something. I hate it when they wake me up in the night

Her seemed distant enough that the sound was somewhat muffled. More song like but I agree, there were a few that sounded a bit suspect. Those were the first few I heard…they must have been on the move…..

Ugh (the good ugh, not the bad ugh hehe) – this was SO me, I struggle with Haiku. Out of nearly everyone I follow on WP, and I’m NOT a mass follower in the least, I am one of the only, if not the only, who cannot write in Haiku. If I could, I would have used the exact words that you did – and I love how you did the post script to describe what you were experiencing and sharing! 🙂

I remember the first haiku I wrote. I stumbled upon it. Having to stick to a particular form sorta freaks me out. I admire all the writers who work in many different forms. Amazing really.

I love this, it fits the coyotes so well. We have lots of them here and I think they are just amazing. Well done. 🙂

It was pretty cool to hear. It was distracting Pee a bit – not howling, but everything a particularly loud sound would emerge, she’d pop her head up and jerk my bed & YES – she was sleeping with me……….. I felt guilty, got home late because of a soccer game……

Yes…..it is coming isn’t it. Getting ready? I am sort of happy I do not have to do the costume thing anymore. However when I look in the mirror, I am beginning to see an old witch beginning to emerge!!! 😉

Haha! I think you’ve got a long ways to go before you’re the wise old crone!
No, I’m not getting ready. I don’t like the Halloween. But I like carving pumpkins and eating Reese’s cups, so I focus on that 😉

She slept thru most of it. I let her sleep with me…….and the window was open. It startled her a few times, but as opposed to a dig barking, it seemed to comfort her.
