friday night lights – then and now

Last year, my son Peyton was a freshman in high school.  He was also in the marching band.  On September 7th, 2012 Jordan and myself attended the home game.  The band was awesome, our team won, it was exciting – BUT – there was another grand performance which took place – high above the game –

Can you see the emerging face?

 … the face emerging further & …

2012 football 3

Last night, the two P’s and I took a walk along Lily Lake down the road from where we live.  We were gifted with quite a performance.  It was as if two separate stories were being told simultaneously – the southern sky and the western sky.

due south

due south, we kept walking…

taken south shifting slightly west, kept walking…

slight south, more west, kept walking…

a few seconds after the previous photo was taken…

walking west – due west…

walking west, slight camera shift north…

walking back to the car, camera slightly shifted south…

walking back to the car, photo take a few minutes later due west, slight north…

kept walking, slight shift of focus to the south…

Peyton shot this photo – due west, as we were leaving.

What might we see next year?

Lily Lake in Lakemoor, IL

This picture was taken in my neighborhood.  Lily Lake is not very large, but when the sun settles in at night, I am never disappointed with her performance!  Every drive by requires a ‘stop by’, and every ‘stop by’ requires a snapshot or two or three…

I hope you enjoy the view Belinda!
