Bonus photo: Sydnee Pee, wearing a multitude of orangey-ish (depends on the lighting) colors

This week’s challenge encompasses the color orange.  It seems I have quite a bit of orange on my walls and walking around the house.  As one can see above, each element of orange, is related to the arts in some way, including the bonus photo.  My son Peyton has always enjoyed drawing and painting.  My mother’s dream was to become a commercial artist.  My son Jordan is on his way to becoming a ‘big deal’ in Hollywood and Sydnee Pee – everyone knows she is the quintessential super model and dramatic actress.

“My tuggy makes a nice chin rest…”

Sometimes Pee likes to pick up her tuggy, sniff it, chew it, keep it close by…really close by….

(This particular tuggy was Peyton’s soccer sock.  I am not certain as to what events transpired, but there she was, doing her ‘shark thing’ move, Peyton was ‘kinda’ yelling speaking loudly and then VOILA Sydnee Pee had a new tuggy. Yes, Peyton was clearly a victim of coercion…)

Weekly Photo Challenge – Reward

My children are ‘the greatest’ reward.

(& to take a photograph where everyone is home at the same time, eyes open, smiling directly at the camera (big, natural, happy, unforced smiles) and the hairy one being cooperative….this was a rare moment captured on film.  This in and of itself is a reward!)

Weekly Photo Challenge – Rule of Thirds

*

*

the eye

the eye of Pee

*

This week’s challenge was a stumper for me – I had no idea there was a rule thingy about taking ‘off set’ photos (my personal terminology).  And a bokeh thing – never heard of it.  I am simply an owner of an I-phone who takes pictures of a lot of things and, well, most these things are of my daughter, Sydnee Pee.

I was entertaining the idea of sitting this week’s challenge out, but then I thought why?  I can do this…I can figure it out…  With the assistance of The Daily Post and the ‘easy to comprehend’ instructions, I set out to take a photo of an off-centered object with a bokeh thing. For two straight days, I was roaming my house – taking pics of plants, objects, my son, carpet, tree branches, food…..  It was not happening.  The bokeh was alluding me.  So yesterday, Pee was sitting on her couch and I had a moment of inspiration.  Fortunately, Pee was a bit ferklempt after having been outside and was cooperative.  She did not seem to mind having my phone in her face for about 20 minutes.

The photo above is the last of three taken in which I was specifically targeting her eye – but more than an eye – I was focusing on her eyelashes.  Pee has orange eyelashes!

I am not certain if this photo makes use of the rule effectively, but I gave it a go, got a really cool picture of Pee and she got a cookie out of the whole ordeal.  Not bad for a quiet Sunday afternoon…

Ok, say it.  Go ahead and say it.  Alright, if you do not, I will – I am a sucky Mommy.  I mean, what kind of mommy goes around taking photos of a poor innocent little girl while she is indisposed?

Yes, it is true.  I did it.  I did the deed, but I truly could not help myself.  She looked so darn cute and, well, I had to take a few.

Now, I am in the dog house – grounded…until further notice.

(or at least until it is time to go outside…)

Weekly Photo Challenge – Scale

~

Spring Break 2006 – the three boys and mom

~

~

One of the reasons why I enjoy the Weekly Photo Challenge, beside the obvious, is the challenge of challenging the challenge!  Make sense?  Please let me explain…  For the scale challenge, I was going to line up Jordan’s stuffed Barney dolls.  He has four – starting with the tallest being 2 foot Barney and the smallest being a Beanie Baby Barney, which is about 4″ or so.  Simple demonstration of scale….

BUT

I stumbled upon the photo above and thought – “Aha! This one is perfect!  Yes, the difference in scale is obvious, however, there is more to this photo than which meets the eye.  For instance, a little family in a larger than life city.  However, the most poignant is the man (tall bald guy) who made his living owning a small sign manufacturing business – standing beneath what is considered to be one of the most quintessential signs in the sign industry.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Gone, But Not Forgotten

Our last ‘family trip’ to the Wisconsin Dells.

I had a hard time deciding which one of these two photos I should post.  I made the decision to choose both and while I was downloading them, I made a discovery ~ they were taken only a few days apart.

I have not much else to say because these photos show a part of my life I miss terribly and though I remember them with laughter and pure happiness, they bring tears.  Many tears.  Still.
