Madness of the Big Dance…..
• tis the time of year where madness rules – when a ball and net turn some into fools. • where a seed is not a plant, a bracket rules the office and a grown man (or woman) cry because their favorite team is offed. • there are kids of all ages wearing their fave team jersey and alumni digging in closets for old college mementos ~ then there are school pennants flying high – on public display along with echos of fight songs being prepared for game day. • the whole process is quite sophisticated, beginning with a group of 64 then whittled down to a Sweet 16, Elite 8 and The Final 4. • by the time the Big Championship game arrives, almost 3 weeks will have passed… when all is done, the trophy is won – what’s next??? •Major League Baseball will have just BEGUN! • • Peyton is home tonight…through the weekend. One guess where he will be camping in front of….. • • •
Weekly Pet Challenge – the observant Pee
*
*
dropping Peyton off at work –
Sydnee Pee doing what she does –
observing the conversation
*
*
*
Pee watches and listens to everything. We can never get a thing passed her.
By the way, the restaurant where Peyton works is a popular institution in the Chicagoland area. They are known for their Italian Beef, Chicago style hot dogs (thus the weenie remark) and a Maxwell Street Polish sandwich – sausage thing. Yes, I do not eat this stuff. I prefer the grilled tuna:)
*
Sydnee Pee’s response to the conversation is: “I will see you soon Peeton. I love you and cannot wait to pick you up and your yummy smell of beef!”

Weekly Photo Challenge – Between
ϒ
Wizards Waving Wands!
ϒ
ϒ
This photo was taken the night we saw Harry Potter – The Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Both Peyton and Jordan wore their black capes (Peyton’s is an actual Harry Potter costume and Jordan’s is part of a Darth Vader costume). Each one brought their wands and before we left the theatre, they needed a moment…to do what it is they do…
The obvious ‘between’ here is two ‘magic’ wands. What may not be obvious is the strong brotherly love my two son’s have each other. They are very, very close and the very best of friends.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Street Life
ˆ
A street in NW Burbs of Illinois…
ˆ
This is ‘the street’. Syd’s street. We spend a lot of time walking, talking, sniffing and barking along this street. On the north side is a farm and on the south side are houses and a pond. I took this photo last autumn because this was Sydnee Pee and Jordan’s last walk before Jordan left for college. I remember thinking that my Pnut has grown up and life would never be the same again…

when he goes away to school, he tells his crying mom

nightly consessions
•
as we succumb to sleep each night,
she gets 1/3rd
&
i get 2/3rd.
all is comfy and cozy…copacetic
•
UNTIL
•
she shakes,
jerks
kicks,
shifts,
stretches,
licks,
cries
and
sighs
…
•
THEN
•
a few hours later,
i am lying awake –
unable to sleep a wink…
exhausted from the nightly battle –
for mattress domination.
•
as i roll over and look into
the big brown eyes of my opponent,
it seems the tables have turned…
a victor has been proclaimed –
NOW
she has 2/3rd,
&
i
have
1/3rd

she usually sleeps on her own bed – oops – i meant her brother’s bed, but the below zero nights have made for a chilly puppy. i have made an exception and allowed her to go running – oops – i mean sleep with me. it is nice to know that one of us is keeping up with their exercise in this very cold weather and getting a good night’s sleep. 🙂
puppy dreams……
…
all throughout the day…
…
a yipe here and a twitch there…
…
dreams of running free…

post script: Sydnee Pee has a choice of 4 sleeping spots. #1 the couch (a habit that her daddy enabled years ago) #2 an actual ‘dog’ bed by a sliding glass door, which overlooks the pond (we do not use the dog word in the house). #3 the boys’ bed. We placed the two twin mattresses together to make one big bed, so when her little (big) brother is home, the two Pee’s sleep in their pod. And lately – yes , lately – #4 my bed. #4 has come as a result of the very cold weather and me feeling terrible having her sleep by herself in the ‘pod’. I have only one thing to say – I am a ‘sleep deprived’ sucker:)
