let’s hitch a ride on a moon beam,
take a spin around the stars.
we can cruise with a comet,
go tanning by the sun
or
hang out in the Milky Way
all night long
~ because ~
it doesn’t matter where we go,
what we do
or what we see,
just
as long as we’re hangin’ together,
there is nowhere else i would rather be.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Warmth

Yes, this picture, as it stands, exudes warmth. The bomber hat, plaid flannel shirt, the funky looking slippers, lounging on a rocking chair and sportin’ the sweatpants. BUT what one does not see is the warmth of spirit and, most importantly, the overwhelming warmth in my heart when I saw this moment and photographed it.
Explanation is as follows: I shall begin with the hat…the bomber hat and the large over-sized fleece-lined flannel shirt belonged to our very special friend (like a father, really) who passed away a few years ago. The down camping boots were purchased back in the early 1980’s when I was dancing. They were my first L.L. Bean purchase and I bought them to keep my feet warm when we would move from studio to the theatre. (Theatres are very drafty.) They are big so I can fit not just feet, but pointe shoes on feet. Jordan has been wearing them way before they ever fit his feet. We nick-named them “big guns”. The rocking chair has been ‘the place’ since before he was born and then after he was born and when Peyton was born…..I think you got the idea….. The sweat pants are the wardrobe of choice at home – not the dorm or anywhere else, but home.
Lastly, when I look at this photo, I see a young man living a dream…working towards his goals…which explains the posture. At this moment in time, you see a college student who is relaxed and happy to be home for winter break AND inspired to work on his screen play! Have I mentioned my son aspires to make movies?

Peyton’s menorah made in 1999 of pasta, paint and glue. One lasagna noodle and ten rigatoni pieces (tidbit of advice – try to use the pasta with the least amount of bend 🙂

the drip mats were made by the boys in preschool. Jordan’s was made in 1997 – less than two months after Peyton was born.

i remember when Power Rangers ruled the world

light sabers were the toy of choice ~

Batman socks were not allowed to be washed
and
Darth Vader capes had to be worn.

hours were spent on the couch watching Star Wars
~ every movie ~
chapters one through six
and
we could never get enough of a T-Rex
eating everything in its midst.

~ now ~
it is about fantasy football,
college entrance exams
and
apps to download,
making some bucks

and
typing texts to friends upon friends.

yesterday,
he was my little baby ~
almost 9 lbs of sweet and cuddly coos
with barely a hair on his head,
chunky little cheeks
and
two eyes full of baby blue.
*
today,
he is 5′-11″,
long and lean with an athlete’s build,
two eyes of hazel,
muscular, hairy legs
and
in possession of some serious cooking skills.
*
I keep wondering when and how this all happened,
17 years
have come and gone,
but
what I do know for certain
is I could not be more proud,
of my baby boy
and
what he has become….
