As those who follow me know, I have art work everywhere in my house. 98% belongs to the boys and the other 2% belongs to professional artists and friends. (Yes, Gigi, that would be you.) Last year, I commissioned Peyton to draw a portrait of his sister.
The above photo was posted awhile back on Michelle’s Weekly Pet Challenge. The first time I laid eyes on it, I saw the perfect Pee portrait. So with this in mind and an empty wall, conveniently located around the corner from last year’s portrait, I decided to commission another piece.

my 2 P’s
Today I have decided to post a project that is near and dear to my heart. Yes, it involves my two children – Peyton and Sydnee Pee.
I have always loved my children’s art work – I have posted many of Peyton’s projects – even dedicated a post to three of my favorites, two of which can be recognized as my gravatars – https://words4jp.wordpress.com/2013/02/05/colors-to-brighten-a-gray-day/
Unfortunately, Peyton is not producing much art these days. His curriculum in school is all academic based, so art is not a consideration for at least another year, or so……. BUT, I came up with a plan. Why not commission a piece of art? I may not be a Rockefeller or a Carnegie, but I am a mom and I love art and he is my favorite artiste, other than his big bro Jordan.
Peyton and I have discussed for quite sometime that we need a portrait of his sister to hang on the wall. Sydnee is very beautiful – her mix of German Shepard and Akita has gifted her an unusual mix of colors – oranges, tans, browns, ivories, a splotch of black and pink here and there. She has orange eyelashes, brown eyes, which depending on the natural light, look dark brown or light amber. She has unusually large ears, three paws and an upturned tail.
There is one photo in particular, which we agree to be the perfect likeness – eyes open, upright ears, a big smile – the kind of photo you always try to capture but somehow ‘just miss’. Thanks to my I-phone I got it snapped! Here it is –
So without further adieu, I present to you Peyton’s talent from start to finish –
As one can see, Peyton loves color. He has always had a way of seeing beauty and bright color in just about everything, which is a trait I absolutely adore and admire (and one that brightens his mom’s life).
I am currently in the hunt for the perfect frame and Peyton is trying to decide on his next project. (Chances are it will be Pee, again) By the way, in case you were wondering what sort of payment was agreed upon for Peyton’s commission – all I can say is we are still deciding upon the terms, though I do believe there was “some mention” of international exposure:)
