Thank You Transmission #1

‘Tis the time of year to give thanks, so I have decided to do so in a story telling format (after having been inspired by watching the Harry Potter marathon on the Fox Family Channel and the Star Wars Marathon on the Spike Channel – two cable channels in the USofA).  Without further adieu – make yourself comfy, cue the tunes and away we go…..

Once upon a long time ago, in a universe far, far away, there lived a clan of four soldiers.  (This is a true story) They were a kind, loving bunch spreading goodwill throughout the universe – protecting those who could not protect themselves.   The leader of the clan, Syd Pee 3-O, was the strongest of them all with a Paw that could maim with a single swipe.  Next in command was the brains of the operation,  Jor-2-d-2.  He was the technical mastermind, able to bring any operating system to its knees.  Then there was the director of security, Master PeYoda.  He could cook up any top-secret plan and execute it with precision.  The last member, MomBacca, took it upon herself to watch over the clan – making certain the ship was operational, supply clean underwear, food in the fridge and – this is the most important – tuck the soldiers in at night.  MomBacca did have one more responsibility – to blog, aka to communicate.  Blogging made use of the W3 (top-secret wavey things in space), and for the millions of other goodwill soldiers, this was their only means of communication.

Eons of years were spent traversing the universe.  Eons of  clans came and went and many blogs were transmitted, whereupon they still do exist – floating amongst the W3’s in space.  Many of these transmissions have been passed down from generation to generation and some have been placed into a collective source called the WP…………….flash to present day…….

I am the great, great, great…etc… grandchild of MomBacca.  I still oversee the transport, food and laundry of my little clan and I have continued the tradition of blogging.  I blog about many things but one of my absolute favorite things to blog about is gratitude for my fellow ‘clans people’ and here is one such transmission…….

As you can see, I have bent the rules quite a bit.   I have adjusted the number of nominees and the amount of information given about me.  First of all, there is not too much to tell about myself and secondly, I want to spare you the many more words I have to type – of which I have many more to type and they will be revealed shortly with a few more upcoming ‘transmissions’ of gratitude.

I would like to end on this note:  I sincerely want to thank each and every fellow blogger for each moment you have gifted of yourself on your blog site.  These include more than the follows,  likes, comments and awards you have given me – they are the photos, words, thoughts and feelings expressed in each post – the little bits of yourselves you share across the W3’s on the WP!

Until the next transmission –

Happy Reading, Happy Writing

a cornucopia of appreciation

Yes, I know – I have been a bit absent – as of late. I can thank my summer ‘life’ for this, a helluva computer issue and a rather testy WP app on my i-phone – but – never fear I am here and ready to get down to business – FINALLY!

In the past few months, I have been gifted with a cornucopia of awards. I have been touched greatly and I feel the deepest of heartfelt appreciation for each and every one I have received.  I would also like to say that I understand and respect all of the bloggers who wish not to be nominated.  For me personally, it provides an opportunity to ‘pay it forward’.  I can express my gratitude, as well as, bring to the spotlight some wonderful writers and artists.  It’s quite simple really – I think all of you are awesome and want others to experience the awesomeness I have been so blessed to experience.  Please know that if I have nominated you, there is no pressure to accept or to acknowledge its receipt.

I have quite a few awards to list, so please understand if I have bent the rules a bit (I seem to be having a fixation with the number 5).  My intent is to show my appreciation and bring to the forefront some of the many blogs I enjoy.  So, without further adieu, I am going to begin with…….

The Versatile Blogger Award

Official criteria are as follows:

Thank and link back to the person who awarded you.

Nominate 15 bloggers for The Versatile Blogger Award and include a link to their site and tell them that you have nominated them.

State 7 things about yourself.

I would like to thank:

Free Little Words –

Looking for reasoning to a complicated world –

Mama Bear Musings –

I am passing this award on to:

Five mind-blowing facts about me – sort of:

1.  Sydnee Pee was adopted at 16 weeks from an orphanage.  She was given the name Princess.  We gave her the name Sydnee – you can figure out where the Pee comes from – can you not??

2.  She had her right leg removed prior to us seeing her for the first time.

3.  She tore her tendon which attaches to the hock bone (think human Achilles tendon) – thanks to a squirrel and a backyard covered in icy snow.

4.  She will be 9 years old at the end of the year.

5.  She is very protective of her brothers and myself and her left front paw – aka as The Paw.

The Sunshine Award

Official criteria are as follows:

* Use the logo above in the post.
* Link to whoever nominated you.
* Write ten pieces of information about yourself.
* Nominate ten fellow bloggers “who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.”

Five bits about me – sort of:

1.  Peyton will be turning 16 years old in October.

2.  Peyton loves chocolate, pasta and cheese.  (I poisoned him in the womb)

3.  Jordan loves fruity and tart things.

4.  Peyton and Jordan are quite frequently mistaken for twins.

5.  Peyton, Syd and I will miss Jordan terribly when he leaves for college next month.

Interesting Blogger Award

Official criteria are as follows:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. List 5 random facts about yourself
  3. Nominate a minimum of 5 blogs for the award
  4. Ask the nominees 5 questions of your choice
  5. And finally, let them know you have nominated them

I would like to thank:

Looking for reasoning to a complicated world –

My five nominees:

Five questions for my nominees:

1.  What is your absolute favorite book  ever?

2.  What kind of music do you listen to when trying to relax?

3.  If you had one ‘free’ hour in the day, how would you spend it?

4.  Desktop – laptop – pad – smart phone – or all 4 or combination of ?

5.  dog – cats – or other?

Five more bits about me – sort of, kind of:

1.  Peyton and I are tinkering with the idea of starting a blog in the fall.

2. Both Peyton and Jordan are mega foodies.  They photograph their food!  (Nothing more interesting than receiving a picture of a burrito or steak on my cell phone).

3.  I let Peyton have the full reign of the kitchen – to do with whatever he wishes (safely, of course).

4.  Peyton has a wide variety in taste, but has a few texture issues.  Example – likes apples – but not as a sauce or in pie or a juice.  Recently, Jordan managed to get him to eat his favorite food – beans – now Peyton has become bean obsessed and Jordan will not stop teasing him about all the years he would refuse to try beans and my house stinks.  (Jordan looks at himself as some sort of god when it comes to his brother.)

5.  Jordan does not cook – he is pretty much lost in the kitchen but he knows how to surf the net for some awesome recipes.  He is our menu planner.

I would like to close this post with a few thoughts.  I love the time I spend on WP.  I have been a bit lost lately without my home computer.  I have missed reading and ‘chatting’.  It is odd that I have never met any of you face to face, yet you are all in my thoughts – I think about what you are up to and how your day/life is coming along.  We do not know each other, yet we do, in some respects, know each other very well.  This is a very unique aspect of WP – wouldn’t you say?

I would like to thank all of the wonderful bloggers who have gifted me the above awards and I would like to thank all of the blogs listed here and not listed here for your inspiration and friendship.  I still have quite a few more of these to post ……

So until next time ……. Happy Writing, Happy Reading and Happy day!

Good Day or Good Evening!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.  I have been wanting to sit down for quite sometime to give my many, many merci’s to some wonderful friends and fellow bloggers and to pass on what I have been so graciously given.  With this said, please fasten your seat belts and join me on a lovely afternoon (or evening) ride…..

The Inner Peace Award

This award was gifted to me from Theresa whose blog is Soul Gatherings –

I must say that I am very honored to have received this award – it brought tears to my eyes and real warmth to my heart.  I wrote above that a great reader is someone who enjoys reading and connecting to the words I write.  I believe the word connecting – connection is what keeps me writing.  It is also what connects me to my Reader – the blogs that I so enjoy reading day after day.

I can honestly say that I am unable to gift this award to just a few.  I would like to pass this on to everyone.  If you choose to accept, please “pay it forward” to those who inspire you with words of kindness and gratitude.  With this said, I would like to express my gratitude to all of my friends and fellow writers and readers within the WordPress community.  I would also like to send forth a special thank you to a special few, with whom I would be lost had I not connected especially with them:)

Thank you to all!

I would like to end on a familiar note:

Happy Writing, Happy Reading & Happy Day!!

Ten Trekkie questions about myself:

  1. My last trip to the movie theater was for what movie?  Star Trek – Into the Darkness.
  2. Seen in 3D or digital? 3D
  3. Did I like it?  I loooooooooooooooved it!  Thought it was awesome.
  4. Will I see it again?  I am thinking quite seriously about it – I cannot wait until it comes out on DVD.
  5. What food stuffs did I eat during the show?  The boys and I shared popcorn – no butter and bottled water.
  6. Favorite part of the movie?  Uhh, I am not telling…no no no no.
  7. Am I a Trekkie – and if I am – am I one to wear the Spock ears and attend conventions?  No, but I grew up watching the show and all of its spin-offs.  My first crush as a little girl was on Captain Kirk (yes, preteen lust for William Shatner) and I thought that Captain Jean Luc Picard was quite the sexy dude with his bald head.
  8. Romulan or Klingon?  Hard choice, if I had to choose one to hang out with I suppose it would be Klingon. They are big on the concept of honor.  To be one – I would pick Romulan – to fly a cloaked ship would be way cool!
  9. If I could be an officer on the Enterprise, what position would I choose to be?  Easy one – science officer.
  10. One more tidbit – I cried several times, screamed a few and sat on the edge of my seat the entire film!  Wow – what a great movie!

Liebster Act II – award doings #9

Welcome to the Liebster Cycle. Act II brings us back to the computer where Words4jp is fearlessly typing away – pondering life in the ‘sphere, waiting anxiously to play school bus with Pee to pick up J&P from school and wondering when it is time to eat lunch. (I still have a few hours, danggit.) So, without further adieu –

My favorite Scottish bud Shaun has been very kind and nominated me for a Liebster Award. I must say that I am very flattered, honored and tickled for his consideration and, most of all, thankful for his friendship. Shaun’s site is called Looking for reasoning to a complicated world. I would like to encourage each and every blogger in the world-wide ‘sphere to visit his site –

I can guarantee you will not go away empty-handed. His site is a treasure trove of all sorts of ‘things’, for lack of a better word. I learn, laugh, tear up, enjoy – all sorts of wonderful experiences when reading his words.

On to the rules:

1. The Liebster Award is given by bloggers to bloggers
2. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.
3. Each blogger should answer the 11 questions given to you.
4. Choose 11 new bloggers to pass the award on to and link them in your post.
5. Create 11 new questions for the chosen bloggers.
6. Go back to their page and tell them about the award.
7. No tag backs.

Before I go into more juicy details about myself, I would like to announce the 11 nominees:

Maestro – cue Copeland’s Fanfare for the Common man:

  1. Simple Speech –
  2. 108 Plus –
  3. cherriemack –
  4. The Sanctuary of My Heart –
  5. YouOnlyLiveOnce –
  6. evocativewords –
  7. almostannika –
  8. Tranquil Mind –
  9. adventures of a contradictory mind –
  10. allyouseekiswithin –
  11. {PaperKeeper} –

Please note that the above blogs all have under 200 followers (the rules) – they are all great sites and I encourage all my bloggerbuds in the bloggerverse to check them out:) Now let’s waltz through the questions, answers, more questions and facts –

*Maestro – please cue Strauss’ The Blue Danube…………………..

Questions for me to answer:

  1. Favorite song – uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh – at the moment Dusty Springfield’s You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me – sung by her or Elvis.
  2. Biggest flaw – too sensitive – which attaches to many other things.
  3. Happiest Memory – Oy, tough one. Besides those special moments with my boys, I would have to say The Nutcracker when I was Clara – alone on stage dancing to the music which precipitates the war between the soldiers and mice. The music swells as the tree grows on stage. There was a spotlight on me and I was performing grand jetes and tour jetes – I was in heaven! (Just got chills!)
  4. Who do I love the most – my two boys, my Pee and one other.
  5. Movie I love the most and why – This is a really tough question to answer, because I love so many movies. Let me just say it is a movie in which I am with my boys and I can feel their enthusiasm as much as my own.
  6. Who inspired my thinking? There really is no ‘one’ person. My parents and my children.
  7. Fear the most – going for it. It changes daily.
  8. Makes me laugh the most – my kids and Pee.
  9. My first love – crush – J.L. from my freshman year in college.
  10. What did I want to be when I left school – a professional ballet dancer.
  11. The defining moment in my life – there have been many but the absolute most would be the birth of my first son. NOW – let me just say that I can hear Jordan right now teasing (lovingly) his brother saying that mom loves him more – so I am going to say the birth of both of my boys!!

*Maestro – please cue Franz Lehar’s Waltz of the Merry Widow:

Questions for the nominees:

  1. What would be your perfect meal (doesn’t matter which)?
  2. What famous athlete would you change places with?
  3. If you could pick one dream to come true, what would it be?
  4. If you have a smart phone or tablet – how many apps do you have?
  5. Do you remember what a rotary phone is or looks like or still have one?
  6. If you had to choose between going to a sporting event or performing arts show, which would it be?
  7. If heaven is on earth, where do you want it to be?
  8. Who was your favorite teacher in elementary school (lunch lady does not count)?
  9. If you had the chance to cure one disease, ailment, or non-medical related issue, what would it be?
  10. What is your wish for mankind?
  11. Would you prefer to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex or a Brontosaurus?

& now stuff about me…………………..

  1. As a kid, I was running back stage and accidentally rammed right into Beverly Sills! (fyi – famous opera signer)
  2. I have had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled.
  3. When I lived in NYC, I used to watch Paula Abdul guest teach jazz classes at the studio where I trained – Broadway Dance Center.
  4. I discovered my favorite vendor/cart food when living in NYC – piping hot potato knishes slit open with spicy brown mustard squeezed in.
  5. The year Elvis died, my mom, aunt and I made the pilgrimage to Graceland. I met Elvis’ dad – Vernon.
  6. I love mocha chocolate chip ice cream.
  7. I love bananas – especially with peanut butter.
  8. I prefer thin crust pizza.
  9. I enjoy running on the trail, but find the first mile to be the hardest.
  10. My favorite cheese is Parmesan.
  11. Calla Lilies are my favorite flowers.

Alrighty then, there y’all have it – This concludes Act II of the Liebster Cycle. There is more to come, but until then, happy writing, happy reading, happy day!

I received a lovely surprise the other day from a fellow blogger for whom I truly admire.  She combines the written word with beautiful pieces of art and anyone who can bring more meaning to a Van Gogh than Mr. Van Gogh himself, well, let me just say I am smitten and you will, as well.  So without further adieu, let me say thank you to this wonderful lady and for the HUG she has bestowed upon me –

The HUG Award© was initiated by Connie Wayne at A Hope for Today at, which promotes hope, love, peace, equality, and unity for all people.

The HUG Award© is for people with an expectant desire for the world, for which they:  Hope for Love; Hope for Freedom; Hope for Peace; Hope for Equality; Hope for Unity; Hope for Joy and Happiness; Hope for Compassion and Mercy; Hope for Faith; Hope for Wholeness and Wellness; Hope for Prosperity; Hope for Ecological Preservation; Hope for Oneness

The HUG Award© recognizes and honors those who help keep hope alive in our current world, which is plagued by war, natural disasters, and economic recession.  They nurture hope, in any of the above areas,  by the work they do, or in their personal lives with things such as blogging, public speaking, charity work, etc.

The HUG Award© is for people who, without giving up or compromising their own religious, spiritual, or political beliefs, are able to nurture hope and respect the dignity of all people.

The HUG Award© is for those who, without bias or prejudice, use their resources and gifts to make the world a better place for everyone.

The HUG Award©is for people who have a hope or an expectant desire that the work or talents they use in things such as blogging, public speaking, charity work, etc., will make a positive impact on the world.

These people do not have to actively use the word “hope” in their work or creative talents.  They only need be conscious of their desire to make the world a better place for everyone.

These people use their available resources–a smile, a hug, a helping hand, a listening ear, a voice, time, money, possessions, education, personality, talent, websites and blogs—to make a positive impact on the world and make the world a better place to live.

Each blog I am nominating is very, very special to me and I know this because I, personally, have found much HOPE in each one of them, of which I am so grateful –

Again, I would like to thank  for the very warm and generous HUG and to encourage my fellow bloggophiles to take a trip to the above sites – they are wonderful!

HUGS and Kisses –
