reflections by Issi – part 2

ohhhhhhhh…………..what do we have here?
……………a straight line to where…………?
.…………..can it be my beloved……………….
….the handsome neighborhood stud muffin?
~ words by Issi as told to mommy ~
** Note from mommy: We live on the Des Plaines River Trail, which is another word for an interstate highway for all sorts of wildlife. One in particular is ‘stud muffin’, who we know to be a coyote. We see them on occasion and Issi certainly smells them. They have the coolest tracks – single file. How they manage to walk in a single file line with 4 legs/paws is amazing.

as I walk in the snow
with my mommy in tow,
she sings a song
while I sniff along………………………………..

back at it……..

free of the vortex
trekking beside phantom tracks
joy of snowshoeing
the quints

strength and elegance
guardians poised to protect
a silent presence
~ trailblazing ~
watery eyes,
runny nose,
freezing fingers,
burning toes ~
poles in hand,
laces secured,
ratchets tight,
crunching……. sounds…… underfoot ~ ~ ~
such a wonderful time ~ ~ walking in the snow ~ ~
with trails ahead
and
a smile in tow!
……… just purchased a pair of snowshoes – so much fun!!!
sunrise in the ‘shire
a view from the deck
pines swaddled in white ~ ~ ~ asleep
on the edge of morn ~ ~ ~ envision
the beauty …………………………………. of a seeping sunrise.
time to wake up…

no more quiet sleep
the feathered reveille tweets

ps: When I shot this photo, I was looking at the various states of thawing. It was not until I returned home that I saw the ‘closed eye lid’. Can you see it? (left side, middle of the photo – reflection of the grass in the water). Don’t you think it is about time for all of this winter nonsense to call it quits?
