Gratitude and Appreciation

It is a cold and snowy Sunday afternoon in Northern Illinois.  I have been doddling around the house and decided to take on some blog maintenance and get caught up.  Since 2014 is right around the corner, I thought it would be nice to ‘spruce up and tidy up’ my blog.

As one can see, I have changed themes and have incorporated an awards page.  I adore every award I receive and greatly appreciate them.  With that said, I am dedicating a page – kinda like a bookshelf – to my awards.  I have just begun construction, tossing ideas around, and I thought it would be nice to christen the page with some lovely awards which have been given to me by a few very special friends, who just so happen to be very gifted writers….

The Semper Fidelis Award

Gifted by Shaun at Looking for Reasoning to a Complicated World

The Rules:

  • Add the Semper Fidelis Award logo somewhere on your blog.
  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Nominate 5 bloggers who’s loyalty and friendship you value and who you consider being part of your ‘pack of wolves’ on WordPress.
  • Post something special for all of your nominees separately and dedicate it to them. This can be a quote, saying, poem, picture, anything you think that would fit that person.
  • Let the nominees know that you’ve nominated them.

My special pack of wolves…

1.  Dominic at

There was one name that popped out of my head when I first received this award – Dom.  Quite simply, he is a brilliant writer. He can write the most prolific haiku and turn around and write a sonnet that could have fallen off the pages of a Shakespearean manuscript.  I must say what I admire the most about Dom is his ability to describe the human condition – in all of its ‘faces’ and write with compassion, sensitivity and honesty.  This is a gift – and one that I treasure. {Note to Dom – Thee are thouest my special friend.  I doth admirest thee.}

2.  Skye at

Skye is a loving and precious soul.  She is always ‘there’ with a kind word that can warm even the ‘coldest’ of hearts.  Her faith is inspiring.  I could not imagine the WordPress community without her genuine compassion and love for life.  {Note to Skye:  God created you from a star he plucked from the heavens – to (amongst many things, of course) bring light and warmth into the WordPress community.}

3.  Merry at

Humph, what can I say about Merry….. Well, she is one of the funniest people I know.  I mean, she can knock me off my chair with her sense of humor.  She is also one of the bravest people I know – she epitomizes the concept of how humor can lighten one’s ‘heavy load’ of life.  She has lightened my load many a time.  We share the same home state of Ohio and we have shared a few ‘similar’ life experiences and danggit she is just one of the loveliest people I have been blessed to have met on WordPress.  {Note to Merry – You and I are going to make our trailerhood a reality….)

4.  Jen at

What first caught my eye about Jen’s blog was her love of art.  Her ability to combine the masterpieces of artistic expression and words in poetic form is absolutely priceless.  As I have come to know her through her work, I have discovered forms of poetry I never thought existed.  Also, she is a fellow stalker admirer of Benedict Cumberbatch and with that said, opened my eyes to BBC’s  Sherlock Holmes, of which my son Peyton has taken quite the liking.   Quite simply, Jen is a very special friend.  {Note to Jen – Are you counting down the days – hours to January 19th yet?  Do you think BC can make a dragon look hunky good?}

5.  WB at

Earlier this year, I decided to log onto my WordPress account after a ‘almost year long’ absence.  After a few weeks of writing and reading, I stumbled across a rather interesting blog.  It was visually beautiful and the words were astounding.  I was inspired.  WB can be compared to a composer – his thoughts are structured in words and arranged in a meticulous manner which create a lyrical and visual experience, which in turn effectuates a purpose.  I find myself tangled in thought; mesmerized by multiple interpretations.  Quite simply, I am challenged and I enjoy being challenged!  Oh! Oh! & sometimes, I truly believe he is conveying a message in response to the many thoughts which plague my mind.   {Note to WB – I always look forward to your next piece.  Hummm, what might next time bring?)

I have another person I would like to mention and that is Shaun.  I would first like to thank him for thinking of me and for bestowing this wonderful gift.  Secondly, I would like to thank Shaun for being such a beautiful friend.  Though he lives across the big pond, he is always present – not just on WordPress but in friendship.  He is a kind soul and has a selfless heart.  I also enjoy his sense of humor and his love of information.  Honestly, Shaun is a really cool guy and a great person to have in my ‘pack of wolves’.

So, there you have it – 15 awesome nominees.  I returned to WordPress with the intent to scribble a few thoughts.  I never expected to find friendship and friendship is exactly what I discovered.  WordPress would not be the same without them and my life would not be the same, either:)

One last note to my nominees:  I know that some of you do not accept awards.  I perfectly understand and mean no disrespect.  I see these awards as gifts – gifts of appreciation and gratitude for your inspiration and the friendship you bring to my heart.

Until the next round of gratitude and appreciation…..

Happy Reading, Happy Writing and Happy Day!!

With love,

Thank You Transmission #1

‘Tis the time of year to give thanks, so I have decided to do so in a story telling format (after having been inspired by watching the Harry Potter marathon on the Fox Family Channel and the Star Wars Marathon on the Spike Channel – two cable channels in the USofA).  Without further adieu – make yourself comfy, cue the tunes and away we go…..

Once upon a long time ago, in a universe far, far away, there lived a clan of four soldiers.  (This is a true story) They were a kind, loving bunch spreading goodwill throughout the universe – protecting those who could not protect themselves.   The leader of the clan, Syd Pee 3-O, was the strongest of them all with a Paw that could maim with a single swipe.  Next in command was the brains of the operation,  Jor-2-d-2.  He was the technical mastermind, able to bring any operating system to its knees.  Then there was the director of security, Master PeYoda.  He could cook up any top-secret plan and execute it with precision.  The last member, MomBacca, took it upon herself to watch over the clan – making certain the ship was operational, supply clean underwear, food in the fridge and – this is the most important – tuck the soldiers in at night.  MomBacca did have one more responsibility – to blog, aka to communicate.  Blogging made use of the W3 (top-secret wavey things in space), and for the millions of other goodwill soldiers, this was their only means of communication.

Eons of years were spent traversing the universe.  Eons of  clans came and went and many blogs were transmitted, whereupon they still do exist – floating amongst the W3’s in space.  Many of these transmissions have been passed down from generation to generation and some have been placed into a collective source called the WP…………….flash to present day…….

I am the great, great, great…etc… grandchild of MomBacca.  I still oversee the transport, food and laundry of my little clan and I have continued the tradition of blogging.  I blog about many things but one of my absolute favorite things to blog about is gratitude for my fellow ‘clans people’ and here is one such transmission…….

I would like to end on this note:  I sincerely want to thank each and every fellow blogger for each moment you have gifted of yourself on your blog site.  These include more than the follows,  likes, comments and awards you have given me – they are the photos, words, thoughts and feelings expressed in each post – the little bits of yourselves you share across the W3’s on the WP!

To Imagine

Good afternoon bloggerbuds-

A few months back, I was gifted The Imagination Award from one of my favorite writers –

Richard of

“The Imagine Award” is an award that was created by Jenn Mulherin (who is the writer of the blog “My Fibrotastic Life!”) in October of 2013. This award was made in order to recognize the bloggers who express their passion and dedication towards their blogs through their creativity.

The Imagine Award

The criterium for The Imagine Award is as follows:

1. Copy and paste The Imagine Award into your post.
2. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link their blog page to your post.
3. List 3-5 things about the nominator’s blog that you like (which you think are very creative).
4. Nominate 5 other bloggers/blogs which you think display a fantastic use of creativity and imagination.
5. Notify your nominees.
6. Display The Imagine Award to your blog’s award page.

I am extremely honored to have been given this special award from such a talented writer.  Richard possesses an incredible ability to mold words into the most beautiful pieces of poetry.  Sometimes his poetry goes beyond that of the written word – he can bring to life a vision, a song, a dream, a picture, an experience.  His elegance as a writer is astounding and he brings a level of sophistication to WordPress.  I was enticed by his talents from the very first time I laid eyes on his blog.  I was hooked then and continue to be inspired by his creative imagination – now.

There are so many writers in the blogosphere who write with a passion and a level of imagination that never ceases to amaze me.  Whether they are writing a piece of poetry or a thought about something in life, I am constantly being inspired – not just as a writer, but also as a person.  Here they are…….

1.  My friend Dom at

2.  My friend Skye at

3.  My friend Hasty at

4.  My friend Michelle Marie at

5.  My friend Patty at

The above is the tippy, tippy top of my list – it can go on and on and on……so please, visit these incredibly imaginative and beautiful souls.  You will be inspired, I promise.

Until we meet again, I wish all of you

Happy Reading, Happy Writing and Happy Day

I would like to end this post by following the criteria of The Best Moment Award –

I have experienced so many wonderful moments.  Yes, there are the biggies such as every moment with my children, dancing on stage, finishing an Ironman, graduating college, …….. BUT the best moments are the ones which can be the smallest – a smile from someone running past me on the trail, watching the birds nosh from the bird feeder, having a cake bake just right, to name just a few…  Yes, all silly things, but they add up.  At the end of the day they contribute to a feeling of hope.  I would also like to say that my time spent on WordPress has been filled with so many ‘best moments’.  The feeling of accomplishment when a piece is complete and the publish icon is clicked.  Each comment that is made and reading the work of writers who have become my friends and finding new writers to enjoy and appreciate.  All wonderful ‘best moments’!

To the award nominees, please know that you are under no obligation to accept these awards.  Some have specific criterium, and if you would like to get this information, please drop me a line – I will send it right over.  The badges are yours to copy and to place on your own blogs.  If I have given an award to someone who does not accept awards, I understand and I apologize for not getting the memo:)  Let me know, and it will be duly noted. I have stated this before – I enjoy giving awards, because it is a way for me to show my appreciation for what you do and to share your blog with others who may not have found you – yet.

So, this concludes the mother of all thank you awards post.  I would like to end with one more BIG THANK YOU to say PLEASE keep doing what you do because you are all awesome!

Till the next time we meet – Happy Reading, Happy Writing, Happy Day!

many, many merci’s

Good Day or Good Evening!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.  I have been wanting to sit down for quite sometime to give my many, many merci’s to some wonderful friends and fellow bloggers and to pass on what I have been so graciously given.  With this said, please fasten your seat belts and join me on a lovely afternoon (or evening) ride…..

Wonderful Team Member Readership Award

The Rules:

1. Display the logo on your page.

2. Finish the sentence: “A great reader is……….”

3. Nominate 14 readers you appreciate.

4. Inform the readers with either comments or pingbacks.

The above recognition was given to me by two awesome bloggers –

The sentence:  “A great reader is someone who enjoys reading and connecting to the words I write.”

Here are the 14 readers I appreciate so very much – for their interest, their comments, their eyes (kinda like ears – but we read:), and their friendship.

  1. The Lyceum –
  2. Black and Write –
  3. unloving you –
  4. The Sanctuary of My Heart –
  5. Knocked over by a feather –
  6. ordinarygirlinbrum –
  7. Free Little Words –
  8. My Pen, My sword –
  9. Tucson Blonde –
  10. poet4justicedotwordpressdotcom –
  11. Busy Mind Thinking –
  12. Destroyed Destiny –
  13. Pieces –
  14. Lunch Sketch –

Now – please continue to on ……

The Inner Peace Award

This award was gifted to me from Theresa whose blog is Soul Gatherings –

I must say that I am very honored to have received this award – it brought tears to my eyes and real warmth to my heart.  I wrote above that a great reader is someone who enjoys reading and connecting to the words I write.  I believe the word connecting – connection is what keeps me writing.  It is also what connects me to my Reader – the blogs that I so enjoy reading day after day.

I can honestly say that I am unable to gift this award to just a few.  I would like to pass this on to everyone.  If you choose to accept, please “pay it forward” to those who inspire you with words of kindness and gratitude.  With this said, I would like to express my gratitude to all of my friends and fellow writers and readers within the WordPress community.  I would also like to send forth a special thank you to a special few, with whom I would be lost had I not connected especially with them:)

Thank you to all!

I would like to end on a familiar note:

Happy Writing, Happy Reading & Happy Day!!

a loving dedication

we love you.

because we love you,

we know that you must love you

part of you loving yourself is

you loving those around you

that you love so much.

because we love you,

we want you to go…..

love yourself

& those you love so much

because this is WHAT we love about you –

how much you love others

and sharing your love

with us!

post script: This piece was written for a wonderful women and my friend Kelly, who lives across the pond and Down Under. We know her as Free Little Words –
Kelly is a ‘lovely’ writer and if you visit her blog, you will see that every word of every post comes from a loving place. The above words came as a result of one her pieces in which she discusses taking some time away from blogging to spread the love to her family and to her writing (she is writing a children’s book). Of course, she is still around – spreading her love in other ways – she cannot stay away from WP – we are too irresistible:) I am certain that every bloggerphile can relate to fitting blogging and writing into our lives – family, jobs, commitments…
So to Kelly and to all of the WordPress community – keep doing what you do, because what you do is what makes you unique and inspirational and this is what shines through your writing!

I have one thing to say today – TGIF – oh, wait – two things – TGIF and a MEGA BIG THANK YOU!  The TGIF is pretty self-explanatory – a hellish week, which by the way, will continue on into next week.  If you find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for there to be some sort of conclusion to the maybes, kind ofs, and don’t knows –  I hate to disappoint.  No worries, this project will come to an end – these ‘things’ always do….

In the meantime, I have a few items I would like to share.  Two awards in which I hold the highest regard.  As one can see below, they share a common theme – INSPIRATION.

Very Inspiring Blogger Award 2013

Rules are short and sweet:

Reveal 7 interesting facts about yourself and nominate 15 other blogs!

Very Inspiring Blogger Award

2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
3. State 7 things about yourself.
4. Nominate 15 other bloggers for this award and link to them.
5. Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.

Here are my inspiring nominees:

  1. The Abuse Expose’ with Secret Angel –
  2. hutbythemountainstream –
  3. “Art Gowns” –
  4. Moinees’ Words –
  5. Green Embers –
  6. Story of My Life –
  7. Busy Mind Thinking –
  8. Expressions of my life – An evolution of art –
  9. Under The Blue Door –
  10. Knocked over by a feather –

7 more highly and exciting things about me (sort of ) that you already do not know about (sort of):

  1. In less than one week, my baby (the first one) graduates high school.
  2. Today was the last day I will ever take my baby (the first one) to high school ever, ever, ever again.
  3. Peyton – my second baby, has three more years of high school – which means I have three more years of dealing with nutty parent drivers.
  4. I cried this morning – like a baby – when I dropped the babies off at school.
  5. I made a kickass lunch for the boys – homemade meatloaf on oatmeal bread (not homemade).  Old Style pretzels and oatmeal granola bar.
  6. I have upheld my mother’s tradition of making kickass lunches.  What can I say – I am kickass!
  7. Tomorrow I take my first baby to his first day of work – he is working as a film editor for an amusement park – Six Flags Great America!  Who knew they have such a thing?  Anyway, the young man is on his way to Hollywood (there is still college – which means more future posts about my baby and me crying my eyes and heart out…..:)

As you can see, I am exercising my creative free (rebellious) spirit and breaking a few of the award nominating rules.  If I keep giving you more ‘sort of information’ about me, you will most certainly die of boredom.  Secondly, in regards to nominees – this is such a difficult task, basically because I want to nominate everyone.  Each and every blog I read inspires me.  The list above is just a sampling.

Some of the above blogs are new to my eyes and some have been hanging out in my reader for the past few months.  Each one is special to me and I enjoy having the opportunity to recognize them and what they bring to the WP community – which is inspiration and incredible talent.

Here comes the MBTY:

To Rachie, Kira and Laurien – I would like to say Mega Big Thank You so very much for this lovely honor –

To Rachie, Kira, Laurien and my 21 incredibly awe-inspiring nominees – Mega Big Thank You for all that you do

To the entire WordPress community – Mega Big Thank You for every moment in which you create inspiration and click the publish icon!

Till the next time………

Happy Writing, Happy Reading and Happy Day!

Ten Trekkie questions about myself:

  1. My last trip to the movie theater was for what movie?  Star Trek – Into the Darkness.
  2. Seen in 3D or digital? 3D
  3. Did I like it?  I loooooooooooooooved it!  Thought it was awesome.
  4. Will I see it again?  I am thinking quite seriously about it – I cannot wait until it comes out on DVD.
  5. What food stuffs did I eat during the show?  The boys and I shared popcorn – no butter and bottled water.
  6. Favorite part of the movie?  Uhh, I am not telling…no no no no.
  7. Am I a Trekkie – and if I am – am I one to wear the Spock ears and attend conventions?  No, but I grew up watching the show and all of its spin-offs.  My first crush as a little girl was on Captain Kirk (yes, preteen lust for William Shatner) and I thought that Captain Jean Luc Picard was quite the sexy dude with his bald head.
  8. Romulan or Klingon?  Hard choice, if I had to choose one to hang out with I suppose it would be Klingon. They are big on the concept of honor.  To be one – I would pick Romulan – to fly a cloaked ship would be way cool!
  9. If I could be an officer on the Enterprise, what position would I choose to be?  Easy one – science officer.
  10. One more tidbit – I cried several times, screamed a few and sat on the edge of my seat the entire film!  Wow – what a great movie!

My 10 Shiny nominees:

  1. Black and Write –
  2. The War in my Brain –
  3. The Sanctuary Of My Heart –
  4. The Past, Present and Future –
  5. Free Little Words –
  6. Daily Echo –
  7. Mama Bear Musings –
  8. Where Words Fail… –
  9. The Writ of Imagination –
  10. Oceanoartico –

2. ABC about yourself using one word or phrase.
3. Nominate however many blogs you wish.
4. Let the recipient know via a link in their comments.

Before I type my ABC’s I would like to thank

a quikie of sorts

Hi y’all –

I have really missed all of you. I wanted to let you know that I have not fallen off the face of the planet – yet ……………

Here is the scoop:

I have spent the past 4 days moving. With the exception of the big items being moved by guys with muscles, it has been me – and Pee tagging alongside. The boys were available for approximately 7 hours, for the entire weekend. Let’s just say that the ex was unwilling to agree to a total weekend switch, plus Jordan is neck-deep in AP review sessions for his exams scheduled next week & there was this thing called an NFL draft on Thursday night. Let me just say, the boys spent more time discussing who was going where and what team was getting what……. instead of packing.

The furniture was moved yesterday and last night was spent at the new place. Everything is a mammoth disorganized mess. It did not start out that way, but with time waning and deadlines approaching, many items were placed into boxes totally unrelated to each other. I found toiletries with the dishes and managed to misplace the container (they all look the same) with my sheets and pillows. I, however, did not misplace Sydnee’s couch, blanket and pillow – yes, I do have my priorities straight. By the way, she slept on the floor next to my bed, which is not set up – mattress and box spring are on the bedroom floor.

There are still a few items to move – plants, drapes, a bike and condiments in the fridge. There is a cornucopia of barbecue sauces, Indian curries, mustards, steak sauces, jams – my boys are quite the foodies. I also have a huge stack of records – the vinyl/LP kind – that I am unable to part with and a host of dust bunnies to eradicate. In summary, I still have a lot of work to do – in the next 12 hours!!

As I stated, the new house is a disaster – boxes everywhere, most of which are on the bottom floor. The townhouse is three stories, so all I do is go up and down stairs. I do enjoy the exercise, but my ‘old’ dancer knees, hips and lower back are not having a good time. My arms are sore – especially the one packing metal. In addition to a clingy and confused Pee, Tylenol has become my constant companion. My body aches, including my pinkie fingers, but I am looking at this as a way to jump-start my leg conditioning. There are quite a few trails in the neighborhood calling out my name – “Kimberly, come run on me…..”.

My wi-fi/cable will be connected tomorrow, so currently my home computer is unavailable for use. When this gets resolved, I will be back to reading and writing. My I-phone has internet capability, but the 3G connection is awfully slowwwwww. I tried perusing my reader last night, but it took too long and I was drifting in and out of conscientious.

I have a few more hours of work to accomplish, then off to complete my exodus. By the way, as I was loading my car yesterday, the big bulldozers arrived and began tearing down ‘my house’ next door. I was hoping to avoid seeing this, but it did not work out the way I intended. Talk about heartbreaking……

Before I curtsy and exit, I would like to say thanks to everyone for reading and checking in on me – this means more than you will ever know:) I will return soon………. I promise.
