in the daylight hours

setting sail on a journey

outside of oneself

many kingdoms of desire

silence leading to climax

an autobiography

many pairs of shoes

each a different story

chapters of a book

penned with hours of sweat and blood

a once upon a time life

opening nights, first tour, debuts, special events – just a few

shiny bits

finishing touches

accoutrements of splendor

remnants of a past

worn under lights of a stage

priceless jewels from a dream

pieces of my Flower costume

Note:  I did not vandalize my costume – after 12 years of lots of sweat, hair spray, wear and tear, cleaning and constant mending (in other words, costumes live a very ‘difficult’ life) – bits and pieces have a tendency to fall off.  The flower, which was made by hand, fell off of my headpiece.  The pink shiny thing fell off of my bodice and the earrings – well, those were worn for many ballets, actually.  I did not have pierced ears…yet.  (By the way, the trick to keeping clip and/or screw on earrings on one’s ear lobe – eye lash glue)

another night, another candle

each awaits a turn

words spoken from long ago

one spark feeds a flame

a graceful glow fills the room

remembering miracles

the glow is getting brighter…

stumbling through the woods

wrapped in a shroud of self-doubt

bound by intense fear

longing to escape her past

only pain will set her free

gazing at the ground

slab after slab of concrete

very hard and coarse

riddled in cracks and worn-out

truly what i see is – me

searching for…

a shower of tears

bathing amongst lies and fears

drowning in one’s head

reaching for something to grasp

swimming toward salvation

reaching the inner sanctum

tug of war

a constant struggle

one voice combats another

unseen and silent

neither side claims victory

mind versus the heart – always

heart 1
