it was the end of the day,
i walked in from the garage
and
in the corner of my eye ~
I SAW IT!
~
in the office, no less
it was big,
it was huge,
and
it stared with
ALL OF IT’S MIGHT!
~
not certain what to do,
i stood
still
trying to think
as a pounding heart
was drowning my thoughts ~
should i catch & release
or
squish & dispose ~
i don’t know…
i mean
WHAT IF IT BITES?
~
so
~
i ran back to the garage,
grabbed a few towels for defense
and
returned to the vicious imposter,
while i tried to compose
my squeamish, frenzied nerves
and
devise a plan of
ATTACK
~
but
~
before i commenced my evening campaign
of
tossing the towel, scooping up
and
taking outside,
i felt this arachnid
needed
a parting gift
~ a selfie ~
to document it’s moment of
FAME
~
so
~
i got as close as i could,
set up the shot
and
tried my best not to scare it away
~ however ~
it
vaulted to the carpet,
scurried behind the bookcase
and
now
this vicious creature is

never seen in the light of day,
only in the dark of night

a dragonfly’s wings
~
have you ever looked upon a dragonfly’s wings
and
wondered to yourself ~
why?
~
why
with all of the many colors in the world,
are their wings transparent
to the human eye?
~
can it be nature’s gift to protect –
camouflage that which we see
or
maybe what we see is not to be questioned ~
it is exactly
HOW
it should be?
~
~
while pondering how, what and why
a hypothesis came to mind ~
wings such as these
must serve another purpose
than
simply a way in which to fly ~
~
i believe their transparency is magical
and
not just for the sake of blending in
but
to MAGNIFY
the ordinary
and
all of the beauty which is surrounding them!
