Weekly Photo Challenge – Rule of Thirds

the eye of Pee

This week’s challenge was a stumper for me – I had no idea there was a rule thingy about taking ‘off set’ photos (my personal terminology).  And a bokeh thing – never heard of it.  I am simply an owner of an I-phone who takes pictures of a lot of things and, well, most these things are of my daughter, Sydnee Pee.

I was entertaining the idea of sitting this week’s challenge out, but then I thought why?  I can do this…I can figure it out…  With the assistance of The Daily Post and the ‘easy to comprehend’ instructions, I set out to take a photo of an off-centered object with a bokeh thing. For two straight days, I was roaming my house – taking pics of plants, objects, my son, carpet, tree branches, food…..  It was not happening.  The bokeh was alluding me.  So yesterday, Pee was sitting on her couch and I had a moment of inspiration.  Fortunately, Pee was a bit ferklempt after having been outside and was cooperative.  She did not seem to mind having my phone in her face for about 20 minutes.

The photo above is the last of three taken in which I was specifically targeting her eye – but more than an eye – I was focusing on her eyelashes.  Pee has orange eyelashes!

I am not certain if this photo makes use of the rule effectively, but I gave it a go, got a really cool picture of Pee and she got a cookie out of the whole ordeal.  Not bad for a quiet Sunday afternoon…

You weren’t the only one. 😦 I just did my own thing too although I don’t do the Challenge. But the entries were interesting.

The “I of P” – she is so…..like….Cleopatra…. Yeh…..just what Pee needs to be – an Egyptian Queen! Just what her ego needs…..

Great job Kimberly, I’m no photographer, but I like what you did with the picture anyway. 🙂

Thank you so much. I was worried it did not quite fulfill the requirements. I figured if anything, I would get a really cool photo of Pee as a result of trying. 🙂

Looking at this final product, I don’t think that you need to care about the requirements at all.

Any picture of Pee wins a prize in my book. Hands down, she’s a Star.

Funny, I took a very similar photo of Sadie’s eye yesterday, for Macro on Photo of the Day challenge.
