once upon a time…

i remember when Power Rangers ruled the world
and
light sabers were the toy of choice ~
*
Batman socks were not allowed to be washed
and
Darth Vader capes had to be worn.
*
hours were spent on the couch watching Star Wars
~ every movie ~
chapters one through six
and
we could never get enough of a T-Rex
eating everything in its midst.
*
~ now ~
it is about fantasy football,
college entrance exams
and
apps to download,
making some bucks
to buy some stuff
and
typing texts to friends upon friends.
*
*
yesterday,
he was my little baby ~
almost 9 lbs of sweet and cuddly coos
with barely a hair on his head,
chunky little cheeks
and
two eyes full of baby blue.
*
today,
he is 5′-11″,
long and lean with an athlete’s build,
two eyes of hazel,
muscular, hairy legs
and
in possession of some serious cooking skills.
*
I keep wondering when and how this all happened,
17 years
have come and gone,
but
what I do know for certain
is I could not be more proud,
of my baby boy
and
what he has become….

Thank you – i so miss those days, even though we still do have movie nights… I miss the days when they were cuddly on the couch.

Yes, it is done. The big 17. He seems excited and i have anxiety. I have a feeling the next year and a half i am leading up to becoming a grade A, one hell of a basket case mom. π
