the duelists

while standing on the front lines

looking over the fields ahead,

i see battle after battle

and

rivers flowing with the color of red.

some battles are nothing special –

just ordinary from beginning to end

while some are of epic proportions

and

without any knowledge of what lies ahead.

if i take a much closer look,

i see each battle as a duel between two souls…

two souls belonging to the same adversary…

two diametrical halves creating a whole.

this being is a worthy opponent,

an opponent i know all too well –

she can anticipate my every movement

and

easily lead me through the gates of hell.

the two halves of her make the whole of me

and

it is she

i resist everyday –

so many battles devoid of triumph…

doing my best to avoid the brunt of each fray.

i am by no means a tactician

but

i have learned a thing or two…

through years of dueling against my opponent

and

walking daily in ‘her’ shoes

•••

if i can manage to grab hold of the high ground

&

maintain a level head in which to fight,

i can stand high above my weaknesses

&

allow my courage

and

determination to take flight.

 ∫

very poopie

not another duel with the camera…

Thank you. I have been struggling on the writing front. Sort of like writer’s block, but not quite. Maybe because so much stuff on the mind, which one would think would inspire writing but right now it seems to just hamper it.

Just when you think the truce has been signed and peace is in sight, the duel begins again before the ink is dry.

But we are poets and authors and fighters and we have lots of ink and we’ll kick butt and win the battle. Nyah! So there!

        [hug]

And when you’re down, think the following: “Hey, Chief. I might be wrong … but it appears that you’re fighting me again. This makes me feel … pissed off!”

OH! Love this, it really resonates. I know I fight my other half… frequently. She is braver than me but I’m smarter 🙂 so it works out.
