rays of brilliance

every morning she rises high to the occasion,

except when pesky clouds seem to get in her way.

she returns to slumber every night

with dreams of a bright shining day.

she enjoys the hours flying above

smiling at all she holds most dear –

whether she is wide awake

tucked in for the night,

she is always somewhere near.

she is a guardian in the distance

making certain our existence moves along as planned

everyday begins anew,

every night we get to rest

continue on this unique journey…

we like to call life’s dance.

we must never, ever lose sight of our respect,

admiration of her

someday she will get very tired –

go away

never return.

Thank you. Believe it or not I have been working on this piece for the past month. The first two lines came and then I stalled. Little bits came bit by bit over the course of 4 weeks. Yikes!

So very true. This is a very important poem; we should always be grateful for the Sun, and all that helps humanity and Earth sustain life. Wonderful work.

This is really very nice and oh so true. If I were a worshiper, I would worship the sun. I can understand why so many do/did. It controls everything. Every day we check the weather and our main question is….will the sun be shining?
During our Thanksgiving we drove east against the early morning sun with no clouds. It was a devil and not a god!! lol

I agree – driving into the sun is cause for quite a headache. And – as my grandmother used to say “stop squinting, it gives you premature wrinkles!!”
