it’s 3 am

the winds are high…
the flash is bright…
the boom is loud…
it is the middle of the night.
˜
the rain is pounding…
‘a’ paw slams down,
two eyes are peering –
she is panting loud.
˜
i try to pretend
i am fast asleep
but
my guilt kicks in
and
gets the best of me.
˜
so,
i hoist her up
let her have her way –
where upon my bed
in the middle she does lay.
˜
it’s 3 am
and
i am wide awake
as the princess drifts off…
into
dreams her mind
creates!
post script: i love my little girl. she is my daughter, one of my babies and the chocolate to my chocolate chip cookie but sharing a bed with a bed piggy is not working for me. two nights in a row of the big bad boom booms are wreaking havoc on my sleep!

ah, I remember that feeling so well, when my Girl Bess (Mad Border Collie, gone since 2011) wanted to be on the bed, taking over and not sharing by the way! I found I could not resist either. They have our hearts and our minds too ( 😉 ) it seems. Loved the poem. xx

Pee is a tripod – thus a hoist. and she runs marathons in her sleep – so i get kicked, the bed vibrates cause she shakes….. yes – I would not have it any other way – but i am awfully tired:)

Looks like you need a bigger bed to share with the bed hog. Just kidding, I would have brought her up on the bed too. Ya gotta love’m. 🙂

Aha! Next storm – she comes to you;)

Oh no, not another one, I have 4 in my bed already and if my wife had her way we would have more. Off to the couch I would go. 🙂

it sounds to me like your bed has gone to the dogs!!!!!!!
9. Dom DiFrancesco | June 28, 2013 at 3:36 pm
It has and they are smaller dogs, but take up an incredible amount of room.

I am a sucker!!!! I told her she only has permission during the big bad boom booms. Fortunately her bros will be here Friday and she is digging Peyton. Their mattresses are still in the floor because I have not bought frames yet. Which works out for her cuz she does not need a hoist! She literally sleeps on him. They spoon for friggin sakes. But she spoons him!!! Too cute.
14. merbear74 | June 27, 2013 at 11:55 am
How cute is that? My dog doesn’t spoon… 😦
15. words4jp | June 27, 2013 at 1:29 pm
it helps that she has one front leg – it makes spooning possible:)

She’s a peespoon. How gorgeous!

I’m entering that phase where I’d do almost anything to rid myself of insomnia. I haven’t anyone else to blame my sleeplessness on. I’ve been vigilent for so long – I no longer remember how to close my eyes.
25. invisibleme | June 28, 2013 at 3:43 am
I have a precious doggie who has to be glued to me during storms!! You can’t ignore because their little eyes look up at you saying, “Save me supermom!” lol It does make it hard to sleep though. Hope the storms go aways soon!
26. Mrs. Mummy | June 28, 2013 at 3:18 pm
Aww ! so kind of you to let her up on the bed… what a gorgeous queen she is
27. jrosenberry1 | June 28, 2013 at 6:05 pm
Farfel sleeps with me all the time … but some days the doggie-dreams get to be a bit too much! Kicking, growling … oh my! And the older she gets … the more she snores. But now I can’t sleep unless she’s in the bed with me. She’ll be 14 this August and I don’t know what I’ll do when she crosses the bridge. Here’s Farfel last Halloween: http://jrosenberry1.wordpress.com/2013/01/09/dogmare-haiku/.

She is adorable. Sydnee dreams a lot and with three legs one would think she does not care to run – she is an ultra marathoner!!!!!!!!!
29. jrosenberry1 | June 29, 2013 at 12:22 am
She’s an amputee just like me …. how awesome!
