my film guy

Hello my bloggerbuddies!

I hope y’all are having a nice weekend.  I am home with my boys and Sydnee Pee.  It has been a long week of working, driving, cooking (that would be Peyton), working, driving…..and my son – the recent graduate and new member of the working force. This was also his first full week of employment – media technician (one of only two) for Six Flags Amusement Park.

Due to his work schedule and mine, I finally had the opportunity to sit down and watch his video assignments from school.  I must say – yes, I am biased – that he is very talented.  He has an eye and a way of seeing things, matching things – editing.  He had the opportunity this year to take a film editing class at school and was able to work with incredible equipment and editing programs.  It was a really awesome experience and one that I believe will serve him well when he goes away to school in the fall.  {A little background – double majoring in business and movie production – wants to make movies when he is ‘grown up’}.

A few months ago I posted his movie trailer assignment – to make an anti-genre movie trailer.  Take a movie and change the genre of the movie  – such as drama to comedy.

SO:

Today I am introducing my son’s music video.  A few items – he began this project back in January and finished it just as school was ending a few weeks ago.  (A little Terrence Malick going on, maybe….).  He has his own film production company intro (recognize the music and the name of his company?).  Also, he recommends watching this in wide-screen.

Without further adieu –

Drumroll

Curtains rise….

I think I will have to check it out when I’m on my computer because I can’t get it work and I don’t see a URL to copy. I’m on an iPad though…

    That was STUNNING and funny….
Some “Moments” there, you know I love moments.
Even though I am 2 million miles away I got 99% of them.

    Brilliant, tell your boy 10/10

Can you believe – he is only 18? what i find stunning, really, is that he chose so many moments that he really would not be aware of – or shall i say most teenagers would never be aware of and the way they work with the music – rhythms and lyrics. Though, i must say if it wasn’t for his ye old mom – he would not know or appreciate the Righteous Brothers and Elvis, Twin Peaks, American Graffiti, Grease,… 🙂

So let me ask, did you understand this video?

I enjoyed the video. I seen it as a record of important defining moments in our world. Martin Luther King etc in there. For me it was that. I think many can and will interprete the video in other ways. I understood it to the point of what it stood for. Moments in time.
And 18! Yeah, now many 18 year old’s would get the Ronald Regan thing. The last President you guys had who actually tried for peace in this world. This what I meant by stunning. For me it was “Moments” Good moments at that….

Is that how it was to be understood, or is up to the viewer? I liked it..

I ask because a few individuals – very close to my son did not understand it at all. Which, in my mind I do understand (uhhh, the ex hub and his other half). People see and listen to music differently – and this is fine. It is what makes us different. Jordan knows that. I think if he had stuck with moments from the past half of a decade, his step sisters would have understand it – maybe. Also, if someone does not possess the knowledge or interest in film technique, many things may pass them by.

Thanks for watching and your comments. I will certainly let him know what you said:) xxxx
