to my son, with love…

There will come a time

when you branch out on your own,

away from this world –

the only one you have ever called home.

¤

You will be independent and free

to follow your dreams,

become the brilliant young man

I always knew you would be.

¤

At first it may be rough,

somewhat lonely and strange

but

there are many like you –

on this path to finding their way.

¤

I promise it will not take long

to carve your own little niche

but

remember

I am always here –

to give you a

mom’s encouraging pinch!

¤

Sweetheart,

there is so much

to see –

so much life

to explore –

hold on tight to your spirit

&

never, ever close the door.

Endless possibilities await,

there is no end in sight

so

spread your wings

&

fly

GO

let your brilliance shine!

Happy, happy, to your son, and congrats, congrats to you as a mum. Now HE looks like a good Jewish boy. Wonderful thoughts for a son…as wonderful as the thoughts from a mother. What’s that yellow thing in his right hand? I didn’t graduate from high school in the traditional way, and missed both my university graduation events, so I know nothing about these rituals….as usual, just out of touch.

A yellow rose:) He has graduated from Adalai Stevenson High school and their colors are green and gold. Yes, he is a nice good Jewish boy – and his bro. jordan will be double majoring in movie production and business. He loves movies and would like to produce them:) My very own Spielberg:)

thank you so much – i actually started writing this piece back in March. Jordy saw it and freaked. He took it as me being anxious and ready to send him off to the great unkown – i of course had to tell him that was far, far from the truth and i am just a sentimental mom thinking about her baby growing up and leaving home . goofy boy:) (btw – the poem weeping was about me crying at his graduation – i cried – a lot. my boys know i am a crier – they understand, they joke about it, sometimes get embarrassed by it – but they know it is a part of me:)

Thank you so much for visiting and following my blog and I would like to let you know that I visited yours and really enjoyed this poem. Similar in style to the one that I wrote which is great and I thought this was brilliantly written and a lovely dedication to your son of whom you are rightly very proud. Which one does the ditties? 🙂

Wow thank you for following my blog;). This is very sweet of you. The ditty boy is my graduate. He has always had a away with words – sometimes I think I am talking to someone from another time period. Honestly, he is an interesting young man – he wants to be a movie producer. We will see what happens;).

I’m almost crying buckets with you. How far away will Jordan be? Here there is no need to ‘move’ to attend a Uni. I can’t imagine mine being that age although I know it will happen in a heartbeat. Hugs across the miles. X

he will be going away from school – 5.5 hours away. i know it is something he must do and i know he is pursuing his dreams, but a part of me will be crying inside – happy tears and missing him so much tears and memory filled tears. xx

I am still in the early stages of learning that life is constantly changing and the need to adjust accordingly is always there.

How long until he leaves for college?

As the mother of a 27 year old son, I recognize the feelings you so vividly express here. They are our future and it is up to us to pass on our wisdom to their generation. Your sons are blessed to have you as their mother…
